Whats your Bulk Mail Policy?

    We do not allow ANY type of bulk mail and have a zero tolerance policy for spam.

    Please inform us if you are sending mass emails to customers or users that have signed up for your newsletter or mailing list and we will be happy to notate the account to that effect.

    If spamming is reported, we will open an inquiry into the case. In addition, if spam complaints are reported against your account, your site will be subject to immediate suspension with no refund. We encourage you to ensure that you are not sending unsolicited emails.

Do you provide assistance in setting up my site?

     OCC, Inc has quite a few ways in which you can learn quickly and efficiently on how to setup your site. Below, you will find a few Tutorials to help you get started. If you need help transfering your current web site to our server, we can make that transfer for you.

Can you transfer my domain name for me?

    Yes, at we would be glad to assist you in transferring your domain from your current registrar to ours. Please note that making transfers can take up to a week to complete. The reason why this takes such a long time is due to some registrars being slow to release domains.

   In addition, please make sure that you have all the correct credentials such as the following:

   Anytime during the transfer process you have any questions or are having a problem, give us a call as we would be happy to help.

Can you make my domain private for me?

    Yes, we can make your domain name private (Domains by Proxy will appear instead of your information for privacy.) This can be done anytime after purchasing and/or transferring the domain.

    Here is a word of caution. Do not let anybody put your domain name in their name. If you do, there is a good chance that you need to just kiss that domain good-bye, because you will have a difficult time getting it back, if ever. What ever you do, do not loose control of your domain, as that is your identity on the web.

   Also, make sure you "LOCK" your domain in your registrars back office. You will have to unlock them to move them, but make sure they are "LOCKED" once they are moved.

Do you screen Accounts?

    Yes, we have a strict screening policy. We screen all orders that come into the OCC, Inc. hosting network. We are looking for illegal content, and content against our TOS. As long as your website has legal content, then you will not hear from us, unless we get a spam complaint.

Where do I Upload my Files?

    You upload the files for your site into the “public_html” directory. Your index page needs to be named index.htm, index.html or index.php in lower case. You will need an ftp client, which are included in Dreamweaver and Frontpage.

    To keep your folders organized and neat, it is a good idea to put all your images in the "Images" folder.

Do I need to add the "WWW?"

    Your account supports your site in both methods of:

     A) www.yourdomainname.com
                         and
     B) yourdomainname.com.

     This is so that users visiting your site will not have to always add in the www in front of your website domain name.

I Can’t see my site!

    There are several reasons to why you might not be able to view your site. We have listed the most common ones below.

Propagation

     Has your domain completely propagated? It may take up to 72 hours to complete. Propagation is the process of having the world’s DNS servers recognize the changes you have made to your domain name. For example, when you updated your name servers to point to OCC's network, you made a change to your domain name, so that the OCC servers can recognize your domain name and load your website. This is just one of the many examples of propagation.

Location

    Did you upload your files to the correct folder? All your files should be located within the public_html folder.

File Name

    Do you have a first page that is named index.html (.htm, .php, .asp etc..)? Please remember that Linux servers are case sensitive, so be sure to call your file “index” not “Index”

Temporary URL

   If you are using a OCC temporary url to view your site while your domain propigates, you can view your site by going to http://208.73.34.44.com/~username/. Please note that files that are PHP, ASP & JSP will not function correctly in the temporary URL preview.

How do I move my site and database to your servers?

    The simplest way to move a database is exporting the database as a .sql file using the PHPMyAdmin feature available to you from within most control panels.

    If you have your web site on your hard drive now, simply use an ftp client to upload the web site to our secure servers. Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft Front Page have ftp software built in, so it is as easy as pushing the "Publish to Web" button.

   If you did not create your own web site, then a good FTP client like IP Switch will download your current website to your hard drive, then simply reload it to our servers. It is really easy to use, and there is a free 30 day trial.

Stop Search Engine Indexing of File & Folders

    You maybe asking yourself is there anyway I can stop a search engine (such as Google) from accessing all my files, and images? Yes, there is a way to stop the search engines from doing that. Below is a tutorial on how you can do this.

   1. Open up notepad (you can start it by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad)
   2. Type the following:

     OCC, Inc. does provide a search engine optimization/submission service, and we also offer a do it yourself submission service called "Traffic Blazer" that gets you listed in major search engines to start getting traffic to your web site.

Do you offer any templates for your web hosting service?

    No, not at this time. We are still in the process of setting up a separate site that will sell templates at a very minimal expense. Please check back, as it is expected to be completed soon.

Is it possible to change my username? I don’t like it!

    Please note that it’s possible to update your username, but you may need to make several changes in your website to make sure everything continues to work properly.

   Updating your username would cause many changes to the script paths and would most likely cause problems for your scripts that you have already installed. Please call if you think you will need to made any changes so we can discuss the aftereffects, if any.

Does OptimumChoiceCommunications.com accept international domains?

    Yes, we are able to host domain names from any country around the world.

How long does it takes to set up an account?
 

    OptimumChoiceCommunications.com will have your account up within 15 minutes to 24 hours, depending on how many order we receive at the moment. You will receive an e-mail once your account has been set up.
 

How do I transfer my domain to OptimumChoiceCommunications.com?
 

   You can initiate the process by logging into your domain registrar account and redirecting your name server to point to our name server  ( you will receive name server and hosting details via email )
 

If you are unable to change your domain or have no technical knowledge of how to do so, please contact our support team and we will get it done on your behalf. Once the name sever has been redirected, your domain name would be able to retrieve data from our server within 24-72 hours
